METHODS

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a method of treatment that relies on the human body's own inherent wisdom and desire to be well. A good acupuncture treatment acts like a gentle nudge that helps the body to realign and heal itself.

In the tradition of Chinese medicine, the body contains meridians for the flow of qi, a vital force necessary for life. In health, the qi flows freely. Blockage or diversion of the flow of qi is the root cause of pain and illness.

The insertion of sterile, very fine acupuncture needles at specific points along the meridians clears these obstructions and helps the qi to flow freely again.

Chinese Herbs
The heart of Chinese medicine is herbal therapy. Chinese herbs can help change unhealthful balances and patterns, resulting in decreased symptoms, increased energy, improved digestion, improved sleep and/or regulated menstrual cycle.

Combinations of 4-20 different herbs are prescribed in a formula. Herbs may be prescribed in the traditional loose tea form, or in convenient granulated or pill forms.

Tai Chi
Tai Chi is an ancient form of martial arts and exercise developed in China over 500 years ago. The movements of Tai Chi are based on the balance of Yin and Yang and the principle that soft, gentle movements can overcome violent force.

Tai Chi is practiced slowly, with a relaxed body and mind, allowing the qi to flow freely. The entire sequence of movements takes 20-30 minutes and can be practiced at any age.

The health benefits of Tai Chi include increased balance, flexibility and stability, enhanced immune function, and stress reduction.
